Experience “Ideal Craft Villages” Across Six Venues in Tokyo. A Popular Event Returns After Two Years | 8/COURT
Five Days to Experience the Charms of Kasama and Mashiko. “GO KASAMASHIKO via TOKYO,” a Beloved Event, Returns After Two Years | 8/COURT
Kasama and Mashiko, known as pottery towns, are surrounded by beautiful nature. In recent years, artists from both regions, particularly younger generations, have fostered connections, with their solidarity growing year by year. This is symbolized by the event “GO KASAMASHIKO via TOKYO,” which began in 2011. What kind of event allows us to delve into and experience the allure of Kasama and Mashiko?

With Shibuya Hikarie 8/COURT as the main venue, five satellite locations across Tokyo.
Launched in 2011, “GO KASAMASHIKO via TOKYO 2020” marks its fifth iteration and first return in two years. Across a total of six venues—one main and five satellite—the event offers an opportunity to experience “Ideal Craft Villages.”
At the main venue, Shibuya Hikarie 8/COURT, a sales exhibition will feature works by over 30 ceramic artists. Workshops will also be held to bring the local atmosphere to life (e.g., making sparkling mud balls with Mashiko clay, succulent arrangements), alongside a market showcasing local specialties. On Saturday, February 29th, and Sunday, March 1st, a raffle (for purchases of ¥2,000 or more, excluding tax) with Kasama and Mashiko specialties as prizes will take place, along with a pop-up store offering delicacies from both regions.
The satellite venues are Idee Shop Variete Shibuya, KAGURE Omotesando, Playmountain TOKYO, minä perhonen elävä I, and pejite Aoyama. Each shop curates the charm of both regions from its unique perspective. Admission to all venues is free.
As spring approaches, why not take this opportunity to explore the appeal of Kasama and Mashiko while enjoying a stroll?
