Exhibition “Eyes That Shape Landscapes: Landscapes Born from Art, Design, and Craft” | Hillside Forum
DESIGN | Eyes That Shape Landscapes
An exhibition held in 2019 at the Kirishima Art Museum, Kagoshima, tours to Tokyo.
Landscape Products began as a furniture manufacturer and retailer, with roots in the modern design of the 1940s-60s. This exhibition, offering a glimpse into the core philosophy of the company, led by founder Shinichiro Nakamura, to "create beautiful landscapes," will be held at Hillside Forum in Daikanyama, Tokyo.

Exhibition divided into 26 keywords; gallery talks by Nakamura also scheduled.
Landscape Products was formed in 1997 around Shinichiro Nakamura. Initially focused on furniture manufacturing and sales, the company has since expanded its scope to include interior design for homes, offices, and retail spaces, the operation of its own stores, and the production/direction of exhibitions and events, as well as editing/publishing and branding. This year marks its 20th anniversary as a corporation.
Last year, "Eyes That Shape Landscapes: Art, Design, and Craft Encountered by Shinichiro Nakamura" was held at the Kirishima Art Museum, Kagoshima. This exhibition presented works by artists, designers, and craftspeople that Nakamura admired, alongside works by craftspeople he encountered through his studies, arranged and displayed under 26 keywords. It was truly a culmination of Nakamura's career.
Now, this exhibition tours to Tokyo. Titled "Eyes That Shape Landscapes: Landscapes Born from Art, Design, and Craft," it will be held at Hillside Forum in Daikanyama, Tokyo. The exhibition will showcase, through 26 keywords (in A to Z format), the influences and essential elements that Landscape Products draws upon to "create beautiful landscapes." The content has been partially altered from the Kagoshima exhibition. Why not visit during a spring stroll through Daikanyama?
