Artek
Wataru Kumano, a designer with ties to the "Domus Chair," chooses the materials.
Ilmari Tapiovaara is known as a master of Finnish design. His "Domus Chair," designed in 1946, was developed for reading in student dormitories and is known for its comfort during long periods of sitting and its versatility.
To celebrate the opening of the "Artek Tokyo Store," a special limited edition of 50 "Domus Chair Onnea" chairs, designed with comfort in mind down to the smallest detail, will be sold. The project was directed by designer Wataru Kumano, who previously studied in Finland and became familiar with the "Domus Chair" during his studies.
By combining natural leather for the backrest and seat, it pays homage to the masterpiece while taking a more contemporary approach. "Onnea" means "congratulations."
