The Beauty of Solid Oak and Steel Tubing
Exploring materials, with structures and designs intended for mass production and mobility—Jean Prouvé (1901-1984) left a significant mark on 20th-century architecture and industrial design. In the early 1950s, he designed various types of stools, assigning a number to each. One of these, 'Tabouret N°307,' is being reissued by the Swiss furniture manufacturer Vitra.

Jean Prouvé's work and designs are currently receiving renewed attention with a major exhibition at the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Contemporary Art. The 'Tabouret N°307,' designed in 1951, is characterized by its ergonomically recessed seat. It somewhat resembles a tractor saddle and was originally formed from stamped aluminum.
For this reissue, solid oak has been chosen as the material. The combination of a substantial wooden seat and elegant steel tubing creates a refined and appealing contrast. It is available in two versions: one with a natural oak seat and a Blanc Colombe base, and another with a dark oak seat and a Deep Black base.
