Three series from German furniture maker e15 are highly anticipated for their Japan launch

German Wooden Furniture, Reimagined

The Highly Anticipated Japanese Debut of e15's 3 Series

This year marks the 15th anniversary of e15, a Munich-based furniture manufacturer. Their designs, characterized by a blend of clean lines and robust presence—achieved through the use of thinned wood and solid finishes—have garnered acclaim across Europe and globally. Now, the brand makes its long-awaited debut in Japan, with select models available for viewing and purchase at doinel in Kita-Aoyama.

Designs That Evoke Strength and Delicacy

The ARIE model is a shelf that presents a three-dimensional form, not a flat surface, through its seamless construction. It is available in two types: a thick, 25mm solid wood or a powder-coated white fiberboard. Offered in two sizes with the same width and depth but different heights, it also allows for various combinations using joint parts, enabling flexible use in corners or as room dividers. Designed by Arik Levy in 2008.

BACKENZAHN

BIG FOOT Table

Released in 1996 and now part of collections in museums worldwide, the BACKENZAHN model is arguably e15's iconic piece. It is available as a stool with a slightly curved seat or as a flat side table. While appearing to be carved from solid wood, the space created by legs that taper towards the floor highlights its construction from four distinct parts. Designed by e15 co-founder, architect Philip Manizer.

Alongside BACKENZAHN, the BIG FOOT table is another iconic e15 model. It features a tabletop made of seven or eight 40mm thick boards and legs crafted from solid wood with a 135x135mm cross-section, utilizing the wood's core. While its robust presence is striking, the intersection of the tabletop's straight lines and the wood grain of the legs creates a delicate top surface. It is a superb piece recommended for accentuating any space. Awarded the "Interior Innovation Award Cologne 2006." Designed by Philip Manizer in 1994.
