The Perfected Form and Structural Philosophy Remain Intact

The "EM" in "EM Table" stands for Entretoise Metallique, meaning a metal crossbar. By connecting a long crossbar to a steel base, the structure is segmented, ingeniously resolving structural and even assembly challenges. This was part of a series of furniture designed around 1950 for "Maison Tropical," a prefabricated and demountable housing solution developed for tropical regions. Among these, the EM Table, with its thick top and distinctive legs, has been a beloved masterpiece by Prouvé, widely used for dining and meetings.

The angled legs, formed by bending steel plates, are connected by a crossbar beneath the tabletop, designed with a structure that becomes stronger where force is applied. The beauty of the details and the meticulously calculated structure are characteristic of an engineer. While retaining his structural philosophy, the new version of the "EM Table" allows for a choice in tabletop specifications. The available options are solid wood tops and high-pressure laminate (HPL) tops.

The solid wood tops can be selected from three types: Natural Oak, Smoked Oak, and American Walnut. The attractive texture of natural wood and the elegant material feel of solid wood will enhance any space. Meanwhile, the HPL tops feature carefully selected soft color palettes. To complement the plastic resin, the steel base is finished with a matte powder coating. Furthermore, the table is available in five sizes, ranging from 180cm to 260cm in width.

The new "EM Table," with its perfected form, now combines cutting-edge materials and a variety of colors. By adding these two extreme variations—solid wood and high-pressure laminate—it is sure to fit into the diverse living scenes of contemporary life.
