The "Y Chair," designed by Hans J. Wegner for Carl Hansen & Søn in 1949, is known as an icon of Danish Modern design. In recent years, the company has released limited edition anniversary models of the Y Chair to celebrate Wegner's birthday on April 2nd.

The "Y Chair," a masterpiece beloved worldwide for its sculptural form and paper cord seat.
The frame consists of 14 parts, and 120 meters of paper cord are used for the seat. Artisans meticulously finish each component by hand. Even after more than 70 years since its debut, the beautiful form, a testament to craftsmanship, remains timeless.
This year's "Y Chair" anniversary model is crafted from FSC®︎-certified mahogany. Mahogany is renowned as one of the world's three major precious woods, characterized by its elegant deep hue and harmonious, beautiful grain.
The red-brown tone is exceptionally vibrant. The surface is finished with a glossy water-based clear lacquer, which further enhances its elegant color.
The underside of the chair features a brass plate engraved with Hans J. Wegner's signature and birthday. A certificate of authenticity is also included.
This exquisite piece will be available exclusively on April 8, 2021, at Carl Hansen & Søn's authorized dealers, the flagship stores in Tokyo and Osaka, and the official online shop. While sales begin on April 8th, pre-orders will be accepted from April 2nd to 7th.
