The Dutch furniture brand "GALVANITAS" has arrived in Japan. Its appeal lies in its functionality, adopted in Dutch public spaces, and its simple design.

Simple Dutch Mid-Century
Galvanitas was founded in Breda, the Netherlands, in 1934. In the Netherlands, the name Galvanitas is recognized for products that combine durability and functionality, with its reach extending from schools to stadium seating.
The company, which became synonymous with robust and durable furniture, defined mid-century modernism in the Netherlands and established a practical style.
Now, Galvanitas has landed in Japan, offering the "Model S.16" chair and the "TD4" table.
The "Model S.16" was produced by Galvanitas in the late 1950s to early 1960s as a chair designed for heavy use in public spaces such as schools, offices, hospitals, and dining halls, incorporating affordability, practicality, and durability. It was subsequently adopted by many facilities in the Netherlands and became recognized as a signature product of Galvanitas.
Although production was once halted, the "Model S.16," with fans worldwide, resumed production in 2014 with a rich array of color variations to match contemporary tastes. Its simple, industrial design, rooted in industrial manufacturing, remains timeless and is used in various spaces.
The "TD4" table, meanwhile, was primarily used as a school desk during the era when the "Model S.16" was developed. It pairs exceptionally well with the "Model S.16" and features a practical design with compass-like legs that allow for ample space underneath the table.
For the Japanese market, the tabletop is available in two types of wood, oak and walnut, and two sizes, 1800mm x 850mm and 1400mm x 800mm, to easily complement general households. There are six color variations, allowing for combinations that suit various interiors.
Galvanitas is offering an advance sale at the concept shop "WHITE Journal Standard Furniture," which opened for a limited time in Shibuya, Tokyo, until June 18, 2017 (Sunday).
We invite you to experience the simple beauty and functionality cultivated by Dutch public design on this occasion.
