Focus on New Series by Marina Boers
The IDÉE New Furniture Exhibition features the "DIMANCHE" living and dining series, designed by Marina Boers, a leading young Belgian designer, with themes of "relaxation" and "liberation." Also on display are the spacious three-seater "CALME" sofa, which offers a sense of abundance despite its linear design, and the "BOSQUET" series, luxuriously crafted from solid teak. Additionally, new series such as "STUMP," made from domestic mixed woods like cherry and walnut, and "JATI TUA," which highlights the authentic texture of reclaimed wood, will make their debut.
Designs That Enhance Material Appeal Line Up
The new "DIMANCHE" series by Marina Boers, who is based in Brussels, Belgium, and won "Design of the Year 2014" in Belgium, is a furniture collection that evokes a relaxed atmosphere and sense of liberation, likened to a comforting "Dimanche" (Sunday). Made from solid white oak, it presents a refreshing presence with its substantial yet charming rounded legs and clean design.
The dining table from the "BOSQUET" series, crafted from solid teak—one of the world's three major precious woods—emphasizes a timeless form while leveraging the wood's characteristics. Its design, reminiscent of a worktable, creates a sense of openness. The accompanying bench, with its distinctively angled legs, also serves as a display unit.
Named "CALME," which means "calm, serene (sea/weather)" in French, the sofa's static impression is derived from its composition of horizontal and vertical lines. Its modern design, incorporating curves within straight lines, harmonizes beautifully not only with chic interiors but also with a variety of other design styles.
The "FRAME TABLE" series, designed to maximize the appeal of its materials, offers tabletops in two types of wood: white oak and walnut. Users can select according to their interior style, and a side table from the same series is also available.
New Series Debut at IDÉE, Featuring Rich Materiality
"STUMP" is an initiative focused on furniture production using domestic mixed woods. It transforms diverse-looking hardwoods (cherry, walnut, elm, zelkova, maple, poplar) into furniture by adding new value through design, showcasing the varied expressions of these woods.
"JATI TUA" means "aged teak wood" in Indonesian. In Bali, known as the "island of the gods," old teak is cherished and used with great value. This exhibition features shelves crafted from rare old teak and mirrors finished without any coating, showcasing the luxurious quality of this aged material.
