A Special Limited Edition of 40 Units is Finally Here!

The "Little Marenco" MARENCO PICCOLO

Born from a sketch by designer Mario Marenco, drawn in an instant, the iconic Arflex sofa "Marenco" celebrates its 40th anniversary. The "MARENCO PICCOLO," a smaller-scale version of this masterpiece, will be released as a special limited edition of 40 units starting Thursday, February 16th.

A Popular Sofa for 40 Years, Praised for its Simple Form and Excellent Functionality

In the 1960s and 70s, when sofas dominated reception rooms, Mario Marenco envisioned a "living room" for families to relax in. Its simple form, resembling stacked cushions, captured the Japanese aesthetic, and the "Marenco" sofa grew to become a beloved piece of Japanese furniture.

Since then, the Marenco, a symbol of modern lifestyles, has undergone over 100 specification improvements without altering its design, continuously pursuing enhanced comfort, durability, and maintainability.

The "MARENCO PICCOLO" being released this time is a special limited edition of 40 units, representing the culmination of 40 years of accumulated technology. Each piece is meticulously crafted in a specialized sofa factory in Asahikawa, using the same construction method as the original Marenco.

Mario Marenco
Born in Foggia, Italy, in 1933. After graduating from the University of Naples, he trained in Sweden, Germany, the United States, and Australia. In 1962, he opened his studio in Rome, undertaking numerous projects in industrial design, interior design, and architecture. The sofa "MARENCO" is famously known as Arflex's signature model.
*Exhibitions will be held only at the directly managed stores in Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka, from Thursday, February 16th to Monday, March 27th.
Purchases are by application within the specified period, accepted at directly managed stores and on the website.
Sales will not be on a first-come, first-served basis; if applications exceed 40 units, a lottery will be held.

Arflex Shop Osaka Relocates and Reopens

Arflex Japan's directly managed store, "Arflex Shop Osaka," has relocated to a new premises as of January 19th, expanding its range of featured brands.
The new store, spanning approximately 400 square meters, showcases diverse lifestyles rather than just individual furniture pieces. Within the calm, salon-like atmosphere, you'll find not only "arflex" products but also items from three carefully selected imported brands from Italy.
