IDÉE

Reimagined Across Three Floors with a "Laugh & Luxe" Concept

IDÉE SHOP Jiyugaoka Reopens After Renovation

Seven years after its opening, the Jiyugaoka store operated by IDÉE has undergone a renovation. With a theme centered on "Luxe = quality" and "Laugh = playful spontaneity and flexibility that brings an involuntary smile," the shop's layout, items, and services have been boldly re-edited. It reopened this month as a "place to discover while enjoying one's own lifestyle."

Curating a Life Surrounded by Art

The first floor of the IDÉE SHOP Jiyugaoka is "Daily Goods & Botanique," offering small accessories, jewelry, plants, CDs, and more. With a theme of "items that bring richness to the smallest details," it features selections that can be cherished for a long time and enrich the spirit. Kitchenware, tableware, apparel, and fragrances are also available.

The second floor is "SCENES," where one can encounter "numerous scenes that spark the imagination," featuring furniture, fabrics, vintage items, and art. Various themes are set periodically, presenting approximately 20 styling scenes of different scales. Currently, themes such as "MEXICO" and "PAYSAN" are on display.

The third floor is "Coordinate Lab," housing furniture, books, and a gallery. Centered around the permanent gallery "Life in Art," which offers unique pieces by talented artists, both renowned and emerging, as well as rare vintage posters, an interior coordinator is always on hand. An "Autumn Interior Consultation" event, offering support for creating a personal space, is being held until November 24, 2015 (Tuesday).

Transforming Weekend Moments into Special Times

IDÉE began in the 1970s as a Western antique dealer before starting to produce original furniture in 1982. With the philosophy of "creating future antiques," IDÉE furniture values "playfulness" and "meticulous attention to detail." The company collaborates with designers worldwide, from renowned masters to promising young talents, creating many long-selling and iconic pieces.

The new "DIMANCHE" (meaning Sunday in French) series, developed with Marina Bautier, a leading young Belgian designer, expresses keywords like relaxation and liberation through the comforting concept of "Sunday." With a focus on seating comfort, sofas and low tables upholstered in fabric or the finest genuine leather were launched this spring, with dining furniture arriving this autumn. Each piece is crafted with meticulous attention to detail, designed for spending leisurely time with family and cherished friends.

New IDÉE Projects to Watch

The new project "POOL" collects fabric scraps and offcuts generated during the manufacturing process, as well as items that cannot be sold due to minor scratches or stains from distribution. Through collaborations with various companies and creators, these materials are reborn into products with new value. Akira Minagawa, designer of the fashion brand "minä perhonen," serves as the supervisor.

The first floor of the shop now features "IDÉE Crafts," a corner that highlights a different craft each month. It curates items that resonate with the quiet spaces of life, objects that bring joy simply by being viewed or touched, regardless of era, place, or country, all from a unique perspective. The opening exhibition, "Crafts Selected by IDÉE and Kazuto Kobayashi," is being held until October 12, 2015 (Monday).
