Introducing "dop": The Fabric Developed by minä perhonen

The stackable "Seven Chair," designed by Arne Jacobsen, a pioneer of Scandinavian design, stands out in the history of Fritz Hansen.

Born in 1955 and celebrating its 60th anniversary, the "Seven Chair" has now met "dop," a new fabric developed by minä perhonen, a fashion brand that creates textiles from original designs. This collaboration has given birth to the "Seven Chair in dop."

Crafted with a Special Fabric That Ages Beautifully

This collaboration began from a long-standing friendship between Fritz Hansen and minä perhonen, built on mutual admiration for each other's craftsmanship and philosophy.

The "dop" fabric is a double-faced moleskin with a smooth texture. Designed to evolve over time, the surface threads wear down after extensive use (over 50,000 friction cycles), revealing the underlying color. This is not degradation, but a deliberate design for gradual transformation.

Available in versions featuring minä perhonen's signature "choucho" and "tambourine" embroidery, the "Seven Chair in dop" comes in a fully upholstered patchwork style using nine "dop" colors, including the reverse side. There are also front-padded options with "choucho" or "tambourine" embroidery. These front-padded versions are paired with carefully selected wood shells, creating unique and harmonious combinations.

For the patchwork version, "Patchwork Mix," Akira Minagawa, minä perhonen's designer, selected six "dop" colors inspired by the eight colors Arne Jacobsen originally chose for the Seven Chair in 1968.

Look closely for the specially designed embroidered buttons on the back of the seat shell, and the unique plate designed for this collaboration on the underside of the front-padded seat shells.
