The New "IN" Working Chair Arrives This Autumn

"Design Made in Germany" Embodied

Wilkhahn upholds the principles of modernism born and nurtured in Germany, influenced by the Bauhaus. The brand pursues innovation with an unwavering commitment to quality. Its philosophy, "design made in Germany," permeates every product, focusing on beautiful, simple, and pure forms, intuitive and practical functionality, and meticulous attention to detail that achieves true quality.

Wilkhahn has researched office environments where sedentary behavior can lead to back pain and poor circulation, striving to develop products that create healthier and more comfortable settings. In 2009, after five years of development, they introduced the "ON" working chair, featuring their proprietary "Trimension" three-dimensional synchro-mechanism. The newly announced "IN" working chair is a model that further reinterprets the "Trimension" mechanism in a more compact and simpler form.

Comfortable Seating Achieved with "Trimension" Technology

The "IN" working chair allows users to fully experience the characteristics of "Trimension," which enables rotational movement combining forward, backward, and lateral motion, much like human joints during walking. The seat can tilt from 12 degrees to minus 5 degrees, the backrest up to 28 degrees, and the entire chair can tilt laterally up to 13 degrees, offering a wide range of motion. It dynamically supports the user's body movements without obstruction, and despite its compact appearance, it accommodates a wide range of users weighing from 45kg to 140kg.

Furthermore, while the "ON" used two springs at its core for "Trimension," the "IN" controls the 3D movement with a single spring. By reducing the number of parts, maintenance is simplified, and the environmental impact is lessened.

Cutting-Edge Technology Supports Body Movement

The resin frame forming the seat and back incorporates "2-component technology," a technique that allows for varying the glass fiber mixture ratio by location using computer programming. Although molded from a single resin material, this technology creates a frame with differing flexibility in different areas; the lumbar region is soft and supple, while the vertical part of the backrest is rigid and strong.

The 3D mesh of the backrest is produced using a special loom that can vary the weave density by location, providing optimal support to different parts of the back with a single piece of fabric.

We are eager to experience the seating comfort of the "IN" working chair, which encapsulates Wilkhahn's philosophy advocating for office environments and working chairs that naturally encourage movement, at the "Wilkhahn Forum Tokyo" showroom in Minato-ku, Tokyo.
