The "Cat," Known as a Statue of the Ancient Egyptian Goddess Bastet

The bronze statue "The Gayer-Anderson Cat" in the British Museum's collection is believed to have been created as an offering to the goddess Bastet during Egypt's New Kingdom period, around 600-300 BCE. It was named after Lieutenant-Colonel Robert Grenville Gayer-Anderson (1881-1945), a British Army doctor with a deep knowledge of Egyptian culture, who donated the statue to the British Museum.
Known as a statue of Bastet, the goddess of love and fertility, "The Gayer-Anderson Cat" features golden adornments on its ears and nose, and a scarab beetle, a symbol of rebirth, carved onto its chest. Cats were revered as divine incarnations in ancient Egypt, and the exquisite beauty of this statue is sure to captivate anyone who beholds it.
This BE@RBRICK is a must-have for cat lovers, history buffs, and anyone intrigued by ancient Egyptian culture.
