Utagawa Kuniyoshi (1798–1861), a ukiyo-e artist active in the late Edo period, is now immortalized as BE@RBRICK 100% & 400% and 1000% with his iconic "Soma no Furudairi" artwork.

This latest BE@RBRICK collaboration with Utagawa Kuniyoshi follows the success of previous releases like "The Fifty-three Stations of the Hoei Era with a Cat" and "The Great Goldfish Panorama." The "Soma no Furudairi" piece, originally a triptych depicting a dramatic confrontation, is based on the novel "Takiyasha the Witch and the Skeleton Sorcerer" by Santō Kyōden, published during the late Tenpō era (1830–44). It portrays Princess Takiyasha, daughter of Taira no Masakado, using sorcery to control a colossal skeleton, battling against Ōya Tarō Mitsukuni, a retainer of Minamoto no Yorinobu. The BE@RBRICK beautifully captures the striking composition of the ghastly "gashadokuro" skeleton bursting through the bamboo screen.

Ghost stories are a quintessential part of Japanese summer. This piece, one of Kuniyoshi's most celebrated works, is a must-have for Kuniyoshi enthusiasts and yokai aficionados alike.
