When BALMUDA Creates, a Speaker Becomes an Astonishing 'Experience'

BALMUDA has elevated everyday appliances, familiar to everyone from fans and toasters to kettles, by adding new 'experiences' like surprise and joy, taking them to the level of 'emotion.' The highly refined design that blends seamlessly with interiors also amplifies its appeal.

Last year, BALMUDA unveiled the 'BALMUDA The Speaker,' which features not only three-dimensional, clear 'sound' but also 'light' that synchronizes with music.

The company's president, Terao, was once a musician and reportedly used to say, 'I would absolutely never make a speaker.' However, a prototype brought by a designer swayed him. It offered a new musical experience where 'light' synchronized with the sound, like a live stage.

It was released in June 2020. In conjunction with the stay-at-home movement, it immediately became a major topic of conversation. It was a moment that revived an old yet new way of spending time at home, something everyone had almost forgotten: 'Turning off the TV and computer to truly immerse oneself in music.'

A Special Live Performance by a Rare Jazz Vocalist!

A year later, BALMUDA collaborated with Blue Note Tokyo, one of Japan's premier jazz clubs. They featured Gretchen Parlato, a vocalist representing the contemporary jazz scene.

She has performed at Blue Note Tokyo twice before. A representative from the venue commented, 'She captivates many fans with her mysterious voice that possesses a unique sense of floating. You'll understand the secret behind why so many musicians seek her voice once you hear this sound.'

This time, the filming took place in Los Angeles, where she resides. Three songs were recorded: 'Wonderful' and 'Magnus' from her latest album 'Flor,' and 'Circling' from the previous album 'The Lost and Found.'

The 'BALMUDA The Speaker' features a 77mm full-range speaker positioned upwards, reproducing all frequencies seamlessly. Combined with a uniquely designed drive unit, it allows for a 360° three-dimensional soundstage, as if the vocals are being performed right in front of you, while maintaining the original balance of the music.

Furthermore, the organic glass interior houses three LED units and stage lights. A proprietary algorithm converts the audio frequencies into light intensity. The intricate and complex lighting resembles sophisticated stage lighting. It offers three lighting modes: Beat, which dynamically flickers with the energy of the music; Ambient, ideal for slow songs like ballads; and Candle, which flickers like a flame.
