A New Concept: "Changing" Your Headphones

When choosing headphones, more people are considering their appearance as much as sound quality and noise cancellation. With over-ear headphones now an integral part of daily style, they are becoming akin to watches, eyewear, and sneakers.

In this era, Beats has introduced the "Beats 360" as its new flagship.

Its most significant feature is the ability to swap both ear and headband cushions, a first for Beats products. The main unit comes in four colors: Black, Cloud, Pink, and Sky, each with matching Performance Knit cushions as standard. Additionally, six colors of Performance Knit and two colors of UltraPlush cushions are available as replacements. You can mix and match freely to suit your style, the occasion, or your mood.

According to the product guide, with four frame colors and eight cushion types, you can create 32 distinct styles. If you combine the ear and headband cushions individually, the possibilities expand to a maximum of 256 styling combinations.

The choice shifts from "What color headphones should I buy?" to "What headphones should I wear today?" The Beats 360 proposes a new way to enjoy audio and fashion by further bridging the gap between them.

Combining pink and cloud creates a headphone that becomes a styling accent. By changing the cushions, you can alter the impression to match your attire or the setting.

Beats' Most Advanced Acoustic Performance Ever

Of course, this fashion-forward design is backed by flagship-level acoustic performance.

The Beats 360 features a newly developed acoustic platform. Its drivers utilize high-sensitivity, triple-layer diaphragms and dual neodymium magnets, designed to minimize distortion while delivering powerful bass and detailed sound across all frequencies.

Combined with a high dynamic range amplifier and custom-designed transducers, the driver output is 12dB greater than that of the Beats Studio Pro. The product guide states the aim is to reproduce the subtle nuances of instruments and vocals, and the depth of the soundstage, while maintaining the signature Beats low-end energy.

Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) has also seen significant advancements. With nine digital MEMS microphones, eight of which are dedicated to ANC, the overall noise-cancelling performance is up to 1.75 times better than the Beats Studio Pro. It also includes an external sound mode for natural ambient sound passthrough and adaptive equalization that continuously adjusts frequency response based on the fit.

It supports personalized spatial audio with dynamic head tracking and Dolby Atmos. Internal accelerometers and gyroscopes track head movements, dynamically altering the soundstage in real time.

The Beats 360, with its new acoustic structure and custom drivers, achieves an extremely minimalist exterior despite being a flagship product.

Changing Materials Also Changes the Fit

What makes the interchangeable cushions of the Beats 360 particularly interesting is that they are more than just color accessories.

The standard "Performance Knit" features a diamond knit structure using 36 high-strength microfiber strands. Memory foam is covered with breathable knit material, balancing a soft feel with durability. They are also designed for stability during workouts, making them suitable for a wide range of activities from daily use to exercise.

The "UltraPlush" option, on the other hand, uses leather material, also found in the Beats Studio Pro and Beats Solo 4. This offers a different, smoother, and more premium fit compared to the Performance Knit.

Performance Knit (left) emphasizes breathability and a lightweight fit, while UltraPlush (right) uses smooth leather. You can choose not only the look but also the feel.

Furthermore, when cushions are swapped, sensors inside the earcups detect the configuration. ANC, transparency mode, and equalization filtering are automatically adjusted, ensuring consistent acoustic performance regardless of the material used.

The combination of physical material changes with digital acoustic correction truly embodies the essence of the Beats 360.

Performance Knit comes in six colors: Black, Cloud, Pink, Sky, Navy, and Volt. Enjoy color coordination as you would when choosing your outfit.

Your All-Day Companion, From the Gym to the City

While emphasizing its fashion-forward design, the Beats 360 is also built for rugged daily use.

It boasts IPX4 sweat and water resistance, a first for Beats over-ear headphones, making them suitable for workouts. Additionally, internal structural revisions and the design of each earcup as a self-contained system have reduced wiring that previously ran through the headband. This allows for a slimmer headband, optimized weight distribution, and meticulously designed clamping force and fit.

The new structure, which re-evaluates not just the weight but its distribution, aims for a comfortable fit even during long listening sessions.

The battery offers up to 32 hours of playback. Fast Fuel allows for up to 1 hour of playback from a 5-minute charge via USB-C. It also supports seamless integration with both Apple and Android ecosystems.

Headphones are no longer just tools for "carrying great sound." Like choosing clothes or changing shoes, you can select materials and colors, and even switch headphones to match your style and activity for the day. And this freedom is achieved without compromising audio quality.

By further blurring the lines between audio equipment and fashion accessories, the Beats 360 presents a new style of listening.
