The First Space Shuttle, "Columbia"

The Space Shuttle, the world's first reusable spacecraft, was developed by NASA (the National Aeronautics and Space Administration) with the aim of transporting cargo and personnel to the International Space Station, and retrieving satellites and other objects from orbit. Many OPENERS readers likely felt their hearts race at the sight of it launching like a rocket and landing like an airplane on its return to Earth.
The first Space Shuttle, "Columbia," carried Commander John Young and Pilot Robert Crippen. It was launched from Launch Pad 39A at Kennedy Space Center in Florida on April 12, 1981. Its primary mission was to inspect the entire Space Shuttle system, orbit the Earth safely, and return to Earth without incident. After completing 36 orbits as planned, Columbia landed on Runway 23 at Edwards Air Force Base in California on April 14 of the same year, demonstrating its significance as a superior spacecraft to the world.
Following this, a total of five Space Shuttles – "Challenger," "Discovery," "Atlantis," and "Endeavour" – were put into practical use, with a total of 135 launches. The final mission was flown by "Atlantis." On its resupply flight to the International Space Station, it returned to Kennedy Space Center on July 21, 2011, completing NASA's 30-year Space Shuttle program flights.
The "SPACE SHUTTLE BE@RBRICK LAUNCH Ver. 100% & 400%" released by Medicom Toy this time officially licensed by NASA (the National Aeronautics and Space Administration), recreates the Space Shuttle's launch scene with BE@RBRICKs featuring beautiful clear bodies with color gradients. The prominently printed spacecraft on the front evokes a sense of divinity. The official emblem of "Columbia" is placed on the back, resulting in an anniversary item that combines a sense of gravitas with pop appeal.
This BE@RBRICK captures the thrilling moments that allow no room for error: the launch (0 seconds), separation of the rocket boosters (approx. 2 minutes 6 seconds), separation of the external fuel tank (approx. 8 minutes 58 seconds), and orbital maneuvering engine burn (approx. 38 minutes). It's a piece that one would want to have on hand to feel the frontier spirit of those who challenged the unknown.
