A Balloon That Doesn't Deflate!?

"h220430," led by Satoshi Itasaka, designs secondary communication born from the message embedded in an object, rather than viewing design as the manipulation of an object's form. It is a project that proposes opportunities to act on global environmental issues and persistent challenges worldwide, and conveys the appeal of interesting aspects of the world through the power of design.

The new "Balloon Chair," to be unveiled at Milan Salone, is a chair created with inspiration from the 1953 French film "The Red Balloon." Sitting in this chair allows one to experience the sense of weightlessness that the protagonist boy felt in the movie.

By fixing the balloon and chair to the wall behind, a sense of weightlessness is achieved, making it appear as if the balloon is lifting the chair. The balloon is made of FRP, so it will not deflate or burst.
