Spotlight on TIDE EXTENSION
DesignTide Tokyo 2011 finally kicks off on Saturday, October 29th. This year, our focus is on "TIDE EXTENSION," which transforms the entire city of Tokyo into its stage. Presentations held at shops and galleries across the city will be connected through the "DesignTide Tokyo" platform, adding color to the urban landscape. It's an annual celebration of design. Let's head out into the city.

A Stylish Autumn Tour of Tokyo's Galleries and Shops
DIESEL SHIBUYA｜MAGIC TENT by KEIKO ＋ MANABU
Architects and spatial designers have freely unleashed their creativity to create installations using home collection items from the Italian fashion brand "DIESEL." The collection features furniture by MOROSO, lighting by FOSCARINI, and textiles by ZUCCHI, all expressing Diesel's signature style. In the first project, "MAGIC TENT," the architectural design team KEIKO + MANABU, based in Tokyo and Seattle, crafted the space.

ORIE Gallery｜"ma" × "COMMOC": A New Frontier in Furniture and Flooring
STUDIO ANAGRAM, which designs furniture, has partnered with EuroDesignHaus, a seller of premium European flooring, and invited architects Keiji Ashizawa and Koichi Suzuno to present special design pieces using flooring as a material, akin to art. This venture transcends the boundaries of "art and function" and "flooring and furniture," venturing into new territory.

Jean Prouvé, a representative French designer of the 20th century, left a significant legacy across fields from architecture to product design. Now, a limited collection, "JEAN PROUVÉ BY G-STAR RAW FOR VITRA," imbued with new charm through the RAW Crossover series by the Dutch denim brand G-STAR RAW, will be unveiled. Furthermore, with the cooperation of Gallery SIGN, which holds a valuable collection, rare vintage items bearing Prouvé's touch will also be exhibited.

Opaque Marunouchi｜OPAQUE PLATFORM
The grand prize winner of the "World Space Creator's Award 2011," hosted by World, "PLATFORM" (designed by Bahbak Hashemi-Nezhad), is realized here. This minimalist system proposal using Korean panels and wire, when combined with VMD techniques, allows for versatile displays. While retaining the concept of the award-winning work, it utilizes actual merchandise to propose a unique and easily understandable retail presentation.
