Let's go buy a sofa at BoConcept Minamiaoyama!
The greatest appeal of BoConcept's interiors is the "customization" that allows you to choose according to your room size and personal preferences. From sofas, dining tables, TV stands, chairs, desks, to beds, you can enjoy creating your ideal interior through made-to-order pieces. This time, at the BoConcept Minamiaoyama store, interior coordinator Yuki Tsuruta will guide you through selecting a sofa. She shared how to choose the centerpiece of your living room without compromise, step-by-step, in a fun way.

CUSTOMISE MY SOFA (1) Choose Your Sofa Design
Yuki Tsuruta, the interior coordinator at BoConcept Minamiaoyama, is 28 years old and in her fourth year with the company. At the Minamiaoyama store, she also handles interior coordination, showcasing her taste and sensibility in fabric selection and more.
When choosing a sofa, the first thing to prepare is a floor plan of the space where the sofa will be placed. About half of customers bring floor plans for detached houses or apartment layouts.
"If you bring a floor plan, we can share the sofa's placement space with you, making it easier to narrow down the sofa's design and size, and allowing for more specific advice. Also, since it's for the living room where the family will relax, we ask about family composition and whether you have pets. For families with children or pets, we recommend fabrics that are resistant to stains," says Tsuruta. While design is important, it's also crucial to grasp "size and needs."
First, let's choose your favorite design from the catalog among BoConcept's 12 sofa series.
CUSTOMISE MY SOFA (2) Check Sofa Size and Comfort
Tsuruta recommends the currently most popular "MEZZO." "Mezzo has a generous depth for a relaxed feel, and the cushions are softer on top and firmer at the bottom, making it popular for its comfortable support," says Tsuruta.
Once you like the design, it's important to try sitting on it. "Comfort is a personal preference, so we encourage the primary user to visit with us, experience the comfort, and then make a purchase," she advises. She also adds, "Choosing interior items is an opportunity to reflect on your lifestyle. Please discuss thoroughly with your family and make a purchase with full satisfaction." While customization is possible with options, it's essential to confirm "design and comfort."
Once the design is decided, you'll select "armrest" and "leg designs," as well as "accessory options" like cushions and headrests.
CUSTOMISE MY SOFA (3) Deepen Understanding with Simulation
Each BoConcept store has a simulation system that allows you to check furniture designs and layouts on a computer screen. If you bring a floor plan, they can create a simulation on the spot. "It's very basic, but you can create a space in about 5 minutes, allowing you to simulate and view the sofa design, size, and whether it will be straight or in a corner," she explains.
The images can be printed out to take home for family discussion, and if you input the fabric and options, they can also provide an estimate.
Furthermore, from the cover fabric samples, you can choose between leather or fabric, and see how the finished product will look by draping a larger fabric sample onto the selected model. This allows you to feel the difference compared to fabric samples viewed on a table, which is very helpful.
Tsuruta adds, "From September, we will be adding new fabric options, making the selection even richer, allowing you to choose according to your room's atmosphere and preferences. Many customers opt for easy-to-care-for leather. We also offer a wide variety of leather colors and textures."
CUSTOMISE MY SOFA (4) At Home, with the Online Design Tool
"If you cannot visit the store, please enjoy designing with BoConcept's online design tool, 'Home Creator.' You can create your own interior from a wide range of size, shape, and color options," says Tsuruta.
While inspiration is important, as these are interior items you'll live with for a long time, it's best to consider them from various perspectives, make the most of customization, and create a satisfactory, original piece you'll love.

She also serves as an "Interior Decorator," responsible for everything from room measurements to selection and delivery. "Sometimes the dimensions on-site differ from the floor plan, so providing advice reassures customers. Marking the sofa's outline with masking tape helps them understand better. I can propose colors that match the floor, walls, and fixtures, so please feel free to inquire."

The Appeal of BoConcept Minamiaoyama Store
The BoConcept Minamiaoyama store, the flagship store, spans two floors, the first and basement levels, with all 12 sofa types on display. The basement level is more spacious, showcasing larger sofas and beds.

Yuki Tsuruta says, "The BoConcept Minamiaoyama store has a large floor area, allowing you to see various types of items. As it's the flagship store, we strive to create displays that inspire you with their design, so we warmly welcome visitors who want to expand their imagination for their purchase."

The spacious store is filled with coordinated displays that can serve as interior design inspiration.
Tsuruta's recommended sofa is the "MEZZO," introduced on the previous page. The stitching on the seat cushions adds an elegant touch, making it perfect for relaxation. You can choose from 9 types of seat units, 2 leg colors, and covers in over 80 types of fabrics and leathers.
Next is this season's new couch sofa, "Nago." Its characteristic high back envelops the entire body, and the headrest can be easily adjusted to your preference. You can choose from 11 types of seat units, 2 leg colors, and covers in over 80 types of fabrics and leathers.
And then there's BoConcept's classic couch sofa, "I.D.V.2." With 13 types of seat units, 7 types of armrests, 10 types of legs, and covers in over 80 types of fabrics and leathers, it's the sofa with the most customizable modules. This year, in line with fashion trends, the grey tweed-touch woven fabric coordination is extremely popular.
"Many of BoConcept's customers have a discerning eye for design," says Tsuruta. Many come seeking the ideal of simple, modern design. By utilizing customization and carefully examining the actual products, you can enjoy the "Urban Danish Design" inherited since 1952 in your daily life.
