BoConcept

Urban Danish Design Inherited from 1952 to the Present Day (1)

The Birth of Design with a Story

Danish-born "BoConcept" continues to deliver new design ideas to the world while inheriting tradition. Since its founding in 1952, the company has expanded to over 250 stores worldwide, proposing "urban design interiors" that emphasize quality and functional design. OPENERS will present the charm of BoConcept in a series of articles in September, when the latest catalog is released, and in October, as autumn arrives in full swing. The first installment will introduce BoConcept's rich history and the "TRIP Competition" utilizing Facebook.

Tradition Inherited Since 1952

The history of BoConcept began in 1952 when two skilled craftsmen from Denmark, Jens Arsoje Jensen and Tage Mølholm, decided to open a small furniture factory in the provincial Danish town of Herning.

Their vision was to offer beautiful, functional, and high-quality interiors at a fair price. This vision has grown BoConcept from a small furniture factory into an international interior design brand based in Denmark.

What Has Remained Unchanged Since 1952?

While the world has changed dramatically since 1952, the desire for furniture that is "beautiful, simple, and affordable" and the emphasis on "functional and comfortable use" have remained constant. BoConcept constantly pursues this universality, protecting the tradition inherited from its founders while continuing to challenge new designs, colors, and styles.

Another thing that hasn't changed is that design and manufacturing still take place in Denmark. A team of Danish and international designers, along with a few carefully selected certified suppliers abroad, are dedicated to creating and delivering high-quality, reliable, and functional designs.

Notable New Collection for 2011

For the 2011 new collection, designers looked back to 1952, drawing inspiration from the designs that captured people's hearts at the time. They incorporated new manufacturing methods, materials, and colors to create designs that fit modern lifestyles.

The "LONDON" chair has evolved from a classic dining chair into a sophisticated and expressive design thanks to modern manufacturing techniques. The seat material and leg design can be selected to your preference, and the upholstery can be chosen from over 80 types of fabric or leather.

The "Occa" table retains its extendable functionality, but designer Henrik Pedersen has incorporated new materials and colors, and added modern nuances to the leg design, creating a table that fits a contemporary lifestyle.

Additionally, designer Morten Georsen has used new materials and colors for the high chest, transforming it into the "Volani" sideboard, which is suited for modern lifestyles.

BoConcept's Approach to Creating the Perfect Interior: Customization

The "Bo" in the brand name means "life" in Danish. BoConcept proposes interiors that can be customized to suit the resident's style, and currently operates over 250 shops and more than 80 studios in 50 countries worldwide. Just as sofas and tables designed in Denmark are used in homes in Berlin, New York, and Tokyo, great design knows no borders, and the need for comfort is universal.

To realize the requests and interior dreams from around the world, BoConcept offers customizable designs, establishing a system that flexibly accommodates even the most specific furniture desires.

From customizable modular sofas and dining tables to storage units, beds, cushions, rugs, and decorative items like flower vases with a wide range of options, they can fully support the creation of your ideal interior.
