The "Eames Wire Base Table LTRT," designed by Charles and Ray Eames in 1950, possesses an enduring beauty that remains undimmed by time. Now, a collaboration with American font design company House Industries has resulted in a limited edition, released by Herman Miller Japan.

Collaboration T-Shirt with BEAMS Also Launched to Commemorate Release
The compact "Eames Wire Base Table LTRT" is popular for its simple, clean form, characteristic of Eames design, and its versatility, allowing it to be arranged or stacked freely. This iconic table, famously used by the Eameses to entertain guests like Charlie Chaplin and Isamu Noguchi during Japanese tea ceremonies, has been reimagined in a collaboration with House Industries, a company renowned for its typography design.
The tabletops for this limited edition are individually hand-printed with alphabets, numbers, and patterns from the Eames Century Modern font designed by House Industries. Two types are available: the Special Edition and the Limited Version.
The Special Edition features 40 unique tabletop designs, each sold as a single, rare item complete with an edition number and presented in a custom wood box designed by House Industries. The Limited Version offers four distinct tabletop designs—waves, flowers, and the letters "E" and "m"—with 50 units of each design available. The wire base tables are priced at ¥69,300 for the Special Edition and ¥49,350 for the Limited Version. Both measure W394×D337×H254mm.
All 40 Special Edition designs are currently on display at the Herman Miller Store in Marunouchi, Tokyo, with exhibition design by House Industries Art Director Andy Cruz, until November 10 (Thursday).
To further celebrate this collaboration, BEAMS T has also released a collection of T-shirts and tote bags, available at the Herman Miller Store and BEAMS T. An event featuring Andy Cruz will be held at BEAMS T in Shibuya on November 6, offering a special service where he will personally stencil Eames fonts.
This collaboration between a globally acclaimed font design company and a table that stands as a quintessential Eames design offers a chance to experience a new facet of this timeless masterpiece.
