Focus on the "TOKYO" chaise longue, integrating Japanese techniques with Western usage
In 1929, Charlotte Perriand presented a series of furniture pieces, known as the "LC Series," at the Salon d'Automne, pursuing interior design integrated with architecture alongside Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret. Cassina not only reissued the "LC Series" but also newly reissued works that Perriand designed with her unique philosophy, inspired by Japanese culture.
Invited by Japan's Ministry of Commerce and Industry (now the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry) in 1940, Perriand visited Japan as an "Export Crafts Guidance Advisor." She was deeply impressed by standardized Japanese architecture, such as tatami rooms, and the Japanese approach of pursuing the possibilities of modernism within nature while respecting tradition. During her long stay in the Far East, her artistic talent further blossomed as she harmonized tradition and modernity, integrating them into daily life. Her representative work, the "TOKYO" chaise longue, greatly inspired the Japanese design world and contributed significantly to its development.
An organically designed low table named after a flower petal
PETALO(Petalo Low Table)
A low table designed in 1951 for the common areas of a university in Antony, a suburb of Paris. The tabletop has rounded triangular corners, and the metal leg structure, appearing as if drawn with a single line, creates an organic design.
"Petalo," meaning petal, can be arranged like a flower with five tables along the arc of a circle, or as nesting tables with various combinations. It is available in five colors and natural or black monochrome finishes.
A bookshelf with movable panels, reminiscent of Japanese fusuma screens
PLURIMA(Plurima Bookshelf)
Designed in 1983, this is a flexible bookshelf that can be wall-mounted or used as a room divider.
Movable aluminum sliding panels create a variety of expressions, and the interplay of volume and negative space gives it a dynamic impression. The base and shelf sections are in natural oak finish, while the vertical panels are finished in black or white lacquer. It is available in two versions: high and low.

ACCORDO(Accordo Low Table)
A low table designed in 1985 for Charlotte Perriand's solo exhibition at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. Its sculptural, dynamic form is inspired by stones smoothed by river currents.
Designed in 1941 during her stay in Japan, using bamboo for the "Selection, Tradition, Creation" exhibition
First presented as a product at this year's Salone del Mobile
TOKYO(Tokyo Chaise Longue)
The "TOKYO" chaise longue, originally designed as a unique piece in 1940 using bamboo. Perriand, living and working in Japan, reimagined the "LC4" chaise longue with a different material, creating a new form. This project, pushing the limits of flexible bamboo processing techniques, achieved a poetic fusion of human relaxation and nature, masterfully incorporating Japanese elements into Western design. Its beautifully undulating form is recreated with Cassina's superb woodworking skills. For its reissue, Cassina expanded the material options, commercializing it in three types: bamboo, teak, and beech. It can also be used for semi-outdoor settings.
Charlotte Perriand
Born in Paris in 1903, Charlotte Perriand was a key figure in bringing about significant changes in the aesthetic values of daily life and fostering a truly modern sensibility through cultural movements like the avant-garde Union des Artistes Modernes (UAM) from the early 20th century. Her professional career began in 1927 with "Bar sous le toit" (The Bar Under the Roof), designed using plated copper and anodized aluminum, which was highly acclaimed by critics at the Salon d'Automne.
In the same year, the 24-year-old Perriand visited the studio at 35, rue de Sevres in Paris, beginning a ten-year collaboration with Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret. Her presence in the studio is evident in all the furniture they designed together; her intuitive talent for using new materials, combined with designs adhering to Corbusier's "Modulor" (a unit of harmonious proportions based on the golden ratio), had a significant impact on 20th-century architecture and design.
