Savor a one-night-only "magari食堂" without the food!

Our guest, Yasuhiro Watanabe, is a chef, but there will be no actual dishes served. This time, we will focus not on tasting food, but on "the act of cooking." After working at COMME des GARÇONS, Watanabe became a chef and pursues not only taste but also visual beauty with his unique aesthetic sensibility.

His self-published "printed matter project" is gaining attention as a new form of expression, situated between art and utility, capturing the most beautiful moments of such exquisite cuisine.

The importance of seasonings, how the way vegetables are cut dramatically changes the outcome, and more fundamentally, the elements of fire and water. What kind of full course will Watanabe, who expresses beauty through cooking, propose to us? (Perhaps you might even perceive the aroma, the savoriness, and the texture.) Please enjoy this one-night-only "magari食堂" without the actual dishes.

Yasuhiro Watanabe

Born in 1980. Born to a father who was a gourmand and a mother who was a pastry chef. Worked at COMME des GARÇONS, where he learned a unique aesthetic sensibility. In 2007, he became an independent chef and established a studio in Futako-Tamagawa, Tokyo, where he primarily runs cooking classes.

He offers delicious experiences through various approaches, such as "magari食堂," where he transforms rented spaces into dining halls, and "eat in studio," where guests enjoy meals on a reservation basis at his studio.

His visually appealing and delicious cuisine is highly supported by individuals with discerning taste, including those in the art world and prominent stylists.

His self-published printed matter, "printed matter project," issued without a traditional publisher, has been released since April 2012 as an endeavor to explore new possibilities in the realms of cuisine, photography, and printed materials. It has been commissioned by select bookstores known for their curated selection of aesthetically sensitive books, such as "Keibunsha Ichijoji Store" in Kyoto, "Utrecht" in Tokyo, and "Kuruminoki" in Nara, earning recognition for its expression at the intersection of art and utility.

In June 2013, he published his first book, "5 minutes / 15 minutes / 30 minutes Cooking: 68 Simple and Beautiful Plates," with Magazine House. In addition to his serialization in the magazine "GINZA" (Magazine House), he is also currently serializing content on Paradise Lost (http://webheibon.jp/paradiselost/) and wonder recipe (http://wonderrecipe.theotry-arte.jp). He continuously contemplates expressing beauty through cuisine.
