Toyota Enhances Safety Features on the Hiace

Toyota announced on Friday, April 17, that it will partially revise the Hiace (Van, Wagon, Commuter) and release it on May 1 with enhanced safety features.

Support for Rear Visibility and Safety Checks Around the Vehicle

The enhancements include the adoption of a digital inner mirror (optional on all models), which displays camera images from the rear of the vehicle, and a panoramic view monitor (optional on AT models only), which displays an aerial view of the vehicle's surroundings on the navigation screen. These features strengthen support for rear visibility and safety checks of areas difficult to see directly.

Additionally, the adoption of Optitron meters with a 4.2-inch color multi-information display improves visibility and convenience.

Furthermore, the Intelligent Clearance Sonar [Parking Brake Support (Stationary Objects)] (available as an option for AT models equipped with Toyota Safety Sense) has been adopted to help mitigate damage from collisions caused by unintended acceleration, further enhancing safety features.

For Welcab and TECS (factory-customized special vehicles), the same improvements as the base models have been made, and the scope of the collision avoidance support package (Toyota Safety Sense) has been expanded.

Prices range from ¥2,192,000 to ¥4,118,000 for the Van, ¥2,886,000 to ¥3,994,000 for the Wagon, and ¥3,221,000 to ¥3,747,000 for the Commuter. For Welcab models, wheelchair-accessible vehicles range from ¥3,687,000 to ¥4,800,000, Weljoin models range from ¥3,078,000 to ¥4,175,000. For TECS models, cargo vans range from ¥2,853,000 to ¥5,393,000, kindergarten buses range from ¥3,426,000 to ¥4,375,000, and business shuttle vehicles range from ¥4,352,000 to ¥5,368,000.
