Porsche Introduces "Porsche Impact," Allowing Owners to Engage in Carbon Offsetting, a First for Japan's Automotive Industry

Porsche Japan has launched "Porsche Impact," a program enabling owners to engage in carbon offsetting, marking a first for the domestic automotive industry. Based on information such as mileage and fuel efficiency, owners can individually determine and offset their Porsche's CO2 emissions.

Visualizing CO2 Emissions Through Mileage and Fuel Efficiency

Porsche has already set ambitious goals, such as exclusively using electricity from renewable sources at its Zuffenhausen headquarters plant, aiming to achieve carbon neutrality across its entire value chain by 2030.
The newly introduced "Porsche Impact" visualizes CO2 emissions by inputting data on mileage, fuel consumption, and fuel type. The cost is determined by selecting a support program.
Support programs include habitat protection for biodiversity in Zimbabwe, as well as several internationally certified projects in Vietnam and Taiwan, focusing on hydropower and wind power.
In Japan, the program incorporates the "J-Credit System," which supports initiatives for renewable energy, energy efficiency, and technological advancement. For a Porsche with an average fuel consumption of 10 km/l, driven 5,000 km, the offsetting cost is calculated to be between ¥10,750 and ¥17,918 annually. Owners can then choose to offset this amount through a program they endorse.
Porsche Japan also plans to address CO2 emissions generated when charging its fully electric sports cars, the "Taycan" and "Taycan Cross Turismo," through the Porsche Charging Service, in addition to the CO2 emitted by the vehicles themselves.
