The Second Phase of the GR Heritage Parts Project, Following the Supra
The "GR Heritage Parts Project" by Gazoo Racing aims to meet customer desires to continue driving their cherished cars, by reproducing and reselling discontinued supply parts as genuine components.
Following the announcement of the GR Supra in 2019, parts for the A70 and A80 Supra were revived. Now, parts for the 2000GT will also be reproduced.
The 2000GT was unveiled in 1967, with 337 units produced until production ended in 1970. It incorporated many Japanese firsts, including its inline-six DOHC 2.0-liter engine, four-wheel double-wishbone suspension, four-wheel disc brakes, and retractable headlamps.
With a top speed of 220 km/h, it rivaled European sports cars of the era. Its selection as the Bond car in the James Bond film "You Only Live Twice," set in Japan, cemented its status as a sports car Toyota could proudly present to the world.
The reproduced parts include nine types related to the transmission and differential, such as gasket and oil seal kits, and bearing kits. Detailed information will be progressively released on the TGR website starting August 1st, with orders accepted as parts become ready. These reproduced parts can be purchased at Toyota dealerships, just like regular genuine parts.
