DS 7 CROSSBACK Welcomes the Plug-in Hybrid 4WD Model
Group PSA Japan announced on March 10th that it has added the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) 4WD model "E-TENSE 4x4" to DS Automobiles' flagship SUV, the "DS 7 CROSSBACK," and began sales on the same day.
Equipped with a 1.6-liter Turbo Gasoline Engine and a 2-Motor PHEV System
The DS 7 CROSSBACK E-TENSE 4x4 is the brand's flagship SUV model, featuring a 2-motor PHEV system and four-wheel drive, housed within a mid-size body measuring 4,590mm in length, 1,895mm in width, and 1,635mm in height.
The powertrain combines a front 1.6-liter PureTech turbocharged gasoline engine (200ps/300Nm) with an 81.2kW/110ps front axle motor and an 83kW/112ps rear axle motor. The system delivers a high performance of 300ps/520Nm. By supplementing the gasoline engine's torque at low RPMs with the front and rear motors, the 0-100km/h acceleration is achieved in just 5.9 seconds (8.2 seconds for the pure gasoline engine specification). Furthermore, the front and rear motors can precisely coordinate their control to actively manage driving force in response to road conditions.
The electric-only driving range is 56km (WLTC mode), with a hybrid fuel consumption of 14.0km/l. In addition to the electric mode, there are Hybrid mode for maximum efficiency, Comfort mode that activates the DS Active Scan Suspension, Sport mode to maximize the potential of the internal combustion engine, and 4WD mode for independent control of the front and rear motors to maximize traction.
Separately from these modes, two energy recovery systems inspired by Formula E, D mode and B mode, are installed, which the driver can select at any time by operating the shift lever according to preference. The lithium-ion traction (driving) battery has a capacity of 13.2kWh and is stored under the rear seats. Full charging takes approximately 5 hours at 3kW/200V and about 2.5 hours at 6kW/200V. The free smartphone app MyDS allows for charging reservation, status checks, and remote operation of the air conditioning pre-conditioning.
The exterior features E-TENSE marks in various locations as a unique accent, and a new Crystal Pearl body color with highlights that shimmer in champagne gold. Distinctive features include precisely laser-cut taillights and headlights that rotate to greet the driver upon system activation.
The interior offers a space of elegant French luxury, known as DS LOUNGE, which is the hallmark of DS Automobiles. The diamond-shaped stitching boldly applied to the dignified pearl gray leather, along with the diamond-patterned graphics for the meters and monitor and original fonts, evoke a lineage from Art Deco, which originated in France in the 1920s and spread worldwide. An analog clock made by B.R.M. is placed above the 8-inch touchscreen, with touch control switches and a diamond-engraved volume dial below.
Additionally, it is equipped with features such as "DS Active Scan Suspension," which senses the road surface ahead using image analysis from a multifunction camera and automatically controls the suspension with feedforward, "DS Connected Pilot," which integrates active cruise control and lane positioning systems, and "DS Park Pilot," which detects available parking spaces and supports all necessary steering, acceleration, braking, and gear shifting operations.
The model is available in a single trim, Grand Chic, priced at 7,320,000 yen.
