The C-Class's Third Model: Combining SUV-like Visibility with Station Wagon Practicality

The "C 220d 4MATIC All-Terrain" arrives as the C-Class's first crossover model. It offers the elevated driving position and increased ground clearance characteristic of an SUV, along with the practicality of a station wagon.
The exterior blends the C-Class's design with SUV cues, including a single-louver radiator grille, silver chrome underbody guards on the front and rear bumpers, and black wheel arch covers. It rides on exclusive 18-inch five-spoke alloy wheels.
With dimensions of 4,760mm in length, 1,840mm in width, and 1,495mm in height, it stands approximately 40mm taller than the station wagon. This increase provides an elevated driving position and easier entry and exit, akin to an SUV, while maintaining a size that fits within typical parking spaces.
Inside, the dashboard and the vertically oriented 11.9-inch media display are angled six degrees towards the driver, enhancing the sporty feel. The 12.3-inch digital cockpit display appears to float above the dashboard, positioned in front of the large interior trim.
The powertrain features the "OM654M," a 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder diesel turbo engine, producing 147kW (200ps) and 400Nm of torque. A mild-hybrid system (ISG), located between the engine and transmission, provides an additional boost of up to 15kW (20ps) and 208Nm, contributing to smooth acceleration and improved fuel efficiency.
The All-Terrain is equipped with the "9G-TRONIC automatic transmission" and features all-wheel drive.
Additionally, the "DYNAMIC SELECT" system, which allows drivers to adjust engine and transmission characteristics with a switch, now includes two dedicated All-Terrain modes: "Offroad" and "Offroad+." The "Offroad" mode enhances capability on snow and rough terrain, while "Offroad+" assists with stable driving on steep descents and includes a function that allows safe descent by selecting reverse if the vehicle becomes stuck on an incline.
Safety features include the latest driver assistance systems, adopted from the new S-Class. Like other C-Class models, the "MBX" infotainment system, activated by the voice command "Hey, Mercedes," is standard. It supports voice control for navigation, music selection, weather information, climate control, and various heating functions.
The "C 220d 4MATIC All-Terrain" is priced at 7.96 million yen.
