The 2020 Discovery Sport Debuts
Jaguar Land Rover Japan has announced the 2020 model of the Land Rover compact SUV, the Discovery Sport, and has begun accepting orders.
Exterior Design Reimagined
For the 2020 model, the Discovery Sport features a redesigned exterior. Changes to the front grille and bumper, along with the adoption of signature LED headlights, clearly identify it as part of the Discovery family at first glance.
The interior, despite being a compact SUV, offers a three-row seating option for seven passengers, and a split-folding second-row seat with slide and recline functions, allowing for up to 24 different seating arrangements.
The 2020 model also adopts Land Rover's latest architecture, PTA (Premium Transverse Architecture). Jaguar Land Rover states that its increased rigidity suppresses noise and vibration during driving, enhancing safety and comfort.
The front chassis architecture has also been revamped, with the engine mounts positioned lower than before to achieve a lower center of gravity. This contributes to improved steering response during cornering, handling performance, and quietness.
Additionally, optional features include wireless device charging in a dedicated console cubby for smartphones and other devices, a ClearSight interior rearview mirror that displays a high-resolution image with a 50-degree field of view on the rearview mirror to improve visibility when rearward vision is obstructed, and a head-up display.
The engine lineup consists of three options: the "D180" 2.0-liter 4-cylinder diesel engine with an output of 132kW (180ps) and 430Nm of torque, and two 2.0-liter 4-cylinder gasoline engines, the "P200" with 147kW (200ps) and 320Nm of torque, and the "P250" with 183kW (249ps) and 365Nm of torque. Two body styles are available, including the sporty "R-Dynamic," resulting in a total of 10 models.
Body colors include 12 options such as Narvik Black and Fuji White. Prices range from 5.13 million yen for the diesel model "D180," from 4.5 million yen to 5.63 million yen for the gasoline model "P200," and from 5.89 million yen to 7.01 million yen for the "P250."
