Porsche Japan held the domestic launch event for the all-new Porsche Macan, now exclusively a BEV model, at Zojoji Temple in Tokyo on March 27. A calligraphy piece inspired by the Macan, created by calligrapher and artist Yuna Okanishi, was unveiled, and approximately 100 new Macan owners from across the country gathered to showcase their recently delivered vehicles at the venue.
Calligrapher Yuna Okanishi Expresses the New Macan with the Kanji Character "雅" in an Art Performance
The second-generation Porsche Macan has evolved into a BEV-exclusive model. An event was held at the Grand Temple Zojoji to celebrate the domestic launch of the new model alongside its owners.
The venue was decorated in Provence, the new Macan's communication color. The artwork was created by Yuna Okanishi, a calligrapher and artist who is also a previous-generation Macan owner. It was completed during a live performance at the event.
The artwork features the kanji character "雅" (miyabi), meaning elegance, dynamically rendered in a brilliant gold on a canvas layered with the word "electric," signifying the new Macan's full-electric SUV status. The piece showcases the curvilinear beauty characteristic of Okanishi's work.
Okanishi commented, "I painted the character '雅' in gold to express the nobility and sophistication of the Macan. As a Macan owner myself, I continue to be captivated by the 'balance of curves and straight lines' in the Macan's silhouette."
This artwork is scheduled to be exhibited at the Porsche Japan booth at "Automobile Council 2025," held at Makuhari Messe from April 11-13.
Furthermore, Okanishi has a history of providing calligraphy for the Tokyo Marathon, one of the world's seven major marathons, for which Porsche Japan serves as an official partner. In 2025, Okanishi's brushwork was also featured on the front of accompanying Porsche vehicles, such as those for the "lead car" and "chief judge," which operated as official cars.
Jörg Kerner, Head of Macan Product Line at Porsche headquarters, visited Japan for the event and presented the new Macan. He celebrated the new Macan's fresh start alongside owners gathered from across the country.
