Ferrari Unveils Limited-Edition Targa Model "Daytona SP3"
On November 21st, Ferrari unveiled the "Daytona SP3," the latest model in its "Icona" series, at the Ferrari Finali Mondiali held at the Mugello Circuit.
Astonishing Performance: 0-100km/h in 2.85 Seconds, Top Speed of 340km/h
The Icona series features limited-edition models inspired by Ferrari's legendary 1-2-3 finish at the 1967 Daytona 24 Hours race, the opening round of the International Sports Car Championship. The Daytona SP3 is the third targa model in the series, following the Ferrari Monza SP1 and SP2.
The body measures 4,686mm in length, 2,050mm in width, and 1,142mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,651mm. The exterior design evokes the beautiful sports prototype racing cars of the 1960s, such as the 330 P4, with its dual peaks on the front fenders, mirrors mounted at the fender peaks, a wraparound windscreen forming the cabin, a slender waistline that flares out towards the rear, and a tapering rear. The doors are butterfly type.
The interior creates a comfortable environment for the driver and passenger, incorporating elements of a racing car. The seats are integrated with the chassis, and the trim seamlessly extends to the doors. The driving position is adjusted by moving the pedal box. The dashboard is distinctly separated and streamlined, appearing to float within the trim. The upper, two-tiered section is covered in clean trim, with the HMI (Human-Machine Interface) touch controls located beneath it.
The steering wheel is the same as that introduced in the SF90 series, Roma, and 296 GTB, allowing for operation of 80% of functions without removing hands from the wheel. The cockpit features a 16-inch curved HD screen.
The powertrain is the F140HC engine, a refined version of the 812 Competizione's F140HB engine, relocated to a mid-engine position. This naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12 direct-injection engine with a 65° bank angle produces a maximum output of 840ps (618kW) at 9,250rpm and a maximum torque of 697Nm at 7,250rpm, with a maximum allowable rotation speed of 9,500rpm. Coupled with a 7-speed F1 dual-clutch gearbox, the performance is astonishing, with 0-100km/h acceleration in 2.85 seconds, 0-200km/h in 7.4 seconds, and a top speed of 340km/h, accompanied by a remarkable sound.
The chassis and body are made of composite materials derived directly from F1 technology, including a T800 carbon fiber tub made by hand layup, and doors and sills using T1000 carbon fiber.
A key aerodynamic feature is the floor chimney in the rear underbody, which connects via vertical ducts to two louvers integrated into the rear fenders, creating a structure that aerodynamically links the airflow above and below the body. This is said to achieve the highest level of aerodynamic efficiency in Ferrari's history.
The tires are Pirelli P ZERO Corsa in dedicated sizes F265/30ZR20 and R345/30ZR21, co-developed with Pirelli. The Ferrari SSC is the latest version 6.1, and it also features the FDE (Ferrari Dynamic Enhancer) to improve cornering performance.
