Flying Spur Welcomes a New Hybrid Model

Bentley Motors, currently expanding its electrification strategy, has announced the "Flying Spur Hybrid," its latest luxury model and a new plug-in hybrid.

Equipped with a PHEV System Delivering 544ps and 750Nm

The newly designed powertrain combines a 2.9-liter V6 gasoline engine producing 416ps/550Nm with a 136ps/400Nm electric motor, resulting in a system maximum output of 544ps—96ps more than the Bentayga Hybrid—and a maximum torque of 750Nm.
Boasting superior power reserves, strong torque, and swift throttle response, it accelerates from a standstill to 60 mph in just 4.1 seconds (0-100 km/h in 4.3 seconds), rivaling the Flying Spur V8. Its top speed is 285 km/h.
The lithium battery powering the electric motor has a capacity of 14.1 kWh and can be fully charged in approximately 2.5 hours (varies by region). The stored energy not only powers the electric motor but also assists the conventional 12V battery system. It is the most fuel-efficient Bentley, offering a range of over 700 km on a full charge and 40 km on electric power alone.
To enhance driver feedback, the instrument panel displays the EV drive mode for electric-only operation, energy regeneration during deceleration, and the internal combustion engine mode. The traditional automatic start/stop switch has been replaced by a control switch for selecting EV drive, hybrid, or hold modes.
EV Drive Mode: Upon powering up the vehicle, it immediately engages EV Drive mode, prioritizing electric-only driving whenever possible.
Hybrid Mode: Maximizes efficiency and range based on data from the navigation system. This mode is ideal for long journeys, utilizing predictive E-mode and engine coasting in conjunction with the navigation route. When a destination is entered into the navigation system, it automatically selects the appropriate drive mode for each driving scenario, continuously calculating to optimize battery usage. It also intelligently stores power in the battery for situations where EV driving is most beneficial, such as entering urban areas, and automatically calculates to deplete the battery charge by the time the destination is reached, thereby maximizing overall efficiency.
Hold Mode: Balances the use of engine and electric power, maintaining the high-voltage battery charge for electric driving when needed. Selecting Sport mode defaults to Hold mode, ensuring consistent boost and regeneration.
Seven exterior colors are offered as standard. Customers can also choose from over 60 optional colors or commission a bespoke exterior color from Mulliner.
Exclusive features of the Flying Spur Hybrid include the "Hybrid" badge below the front fender, oval quad tailpipes at the rear, and a universal charging port with a cover on the left rear fender. Standard wheels are 20-inch, with optional 21-inch wheels available in polished or grey paint with bright machining finishes. The 22-inch wheels included in the Mulliner Driving Specification can be selected from three different finishes.
The interior, a testament to Bentley's craftsmanship, offers a modern cabin infused with unparalleled luxury and innovation. Seat leather can be chosen from five colors. The design from the lower console to the fascia evokes Bentley wings. Specifying a color split adds ten more leather options and two interior duotone color schemes.
All Flying Spurs are manufactured at the Crewe headquarters, Bentley's first carbon-neutral factory for a luxury automotive manufacturer. Orders will open after summer, with deliveries in Japan scheduled for the second quarter of 2022. The manufacturer's suggested retail price is 24.2 million yen.
