Performance-Oriented S Model Returns

Details have emerged for the Flying Spur, now featuring a V8 hybrid powertrain and significant exterior revisions.

A distinctive change is the headlamps, which have been significantly altered from the previous four-light configuration to two. This is the first time the Flying Spur has adopted a single front headlamp since 1962, creating a design unified with the fourth-generation Continental GT.

The overall exterior is cleaner, more modern, and seamless, with a newly designed trunk lid at the rear. While retaining its traditional styling, it presents a more refined impression.

Particularly noteworthy is the revived "S" model. Inheriting the DNA of the Continental GT S, it is a performance-oriented vehicle that wraps sporty design around the dynamic and refined driving experience provided by Bentley's "Performance Active Chassis" and "High Performance Hybrid Powertrain."

The "S" powertrain produces a maximum output of 680 ps and peak torque of 930 Nm. This represents an approximately 20% increase compared to the previous Flying Spur S, achieving 0-100 km/h in 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 308 km/h at full power.

Supporting this powertrain is the Performance Active Chassis, currently exclusive to the Speed and Mulliner models. It features a driver-focused active AWD system, twin-valve dampers, front and rear torque vectoring, and the 48V active anti-roll system, "Bentley Dynamic Ride."

Furthermore, it incorporates new-generation ESC control software and, for the first time in the Flying Spur S, an electronic limited-slip differential (eLSD).

The S model's sporty character is strongly reflected in its exterior. The Blackline Specification adds a dark-finished lower front bumper and a gloss black matrix grille.

Additionally, black-finished Bentley wing badges and "BENTLEY" lettering create a sharp and powerful presence.

Across the entire Flying Spur range, five seat styles are offered. Each seat is meticulously crafted by hand, requiring 12 hours to complete.

The Virtuoso Collection, a special series, is also available. It features themes named "Soprano," "Tenor," and "Bass," combining refined materials, special embroidery, and champagne gold details inspired by the craftsmanship of high-end musical instruments. This collection expresses diverse aesthetics, from calm and bright interiors to darker, more dramatic designs, tailored to each theme.

The Virtuoso Collection also includes the "Naim for Mulliner" audio system, originally developed for the coachbuilt model "Batur" and offered as an option for approximately 5 million yen (£25,000). With 21 speakers faithfully reproducing even the subtlest nuances of sound, it is touted as Bentley's most immersive audio experience, creating an exceptional cabin ambiance.

Orders for the new Flying Spur have commenced in Japan, with deliveries scheduled to begin sequentially from the fourth quarter of 2026.

Q. What is the Flying Spur's position within Bentley's lineup?
Bentley currently offers five body types: the Continental GT/GT Convertible, Flying Spur, Bentayga, and Bentayga EWB. The Flying Spur serves as the flagship four-door sedan within this range. Since its founding in 1919, Bentley has upheld the vision of "combining luxury and performance." The Flying Spur, embodying this philosophy, concentrates the highest level of materials and technology into a sedan body. With the addition of the "S" model in this new generation, and with five seat specifications alone, the range now caters to a wider spectrum of driver preferences, from wellness-focused to ultimate performance-oriented desires.

Q. Is the Virtuoso Collection a special specification exclusive to the Flying Spur?
The Virtuoso Collection, newly introduced for the Flying Spur, is not exclusive to this model but is a series offered across Bentley's entire lineup. It features three themes: "Soprano," "Tenor," and "Bass," providing a range of aesthetics from calm and bright interiors to darker, more dramatic designs. The champagne gold detailing extends beyond the winged badges and exhaust finishers to the keys, which feature champagne gold edging, ensuring a consistent collection theme down to the finest details.

Q. The new model features a V8 hybrid. What is Bentley's policy on electrification?
Under its "Beyond100" strategy, Bentley aims to electrify its entire model range by 2035. This initiative seeks to pursue sustainable luxury by integrating new technologies, materials, fuels, and human ingenuity. As a brand that has produced the world's most refined and high-performance grand tourers since becoming part of the Volkswagen Group in 1998, this V8 hybrid model represents a significant step in its transition.
