Test drive the pure EV "Lyriq," symbolizing the dawn of a new era for Cadillac | Cadillac

Acceleration that powerfully propels the car forward, unique to EVs

"The Lyriq is a model that symbolizes the dawn of a new era for Cadillac," said Kil Bobin, the lead exterior designer from South Korea, who was responsible for the exterior. "While respecting tradition, we have created it as a new Cadillac."
In place of the large opening typically found on the front of an engine-powered car, there is a panel called the "black crystal panel," which displays beautiful LED lighting. Meanwhile, the vertical LED signature lights, first introduced around the 2009 concept car "Converj," are retained.
The interior was designed with a focus on creating a sense of unity, explained the interior design team. The horizontal dashboard appears to wrap around towards the side doors. At the same time, the large 33-inch display is striking. The combination of form, materials, and technology creates a premium feel that is likely to resonate well in the market.
I felt the performance was more than sufficient. The acceleration, with 440Nm of torque driving the rear wheels to powerfully propel the car forward, is something only an EV can deliver. At the same time, I was impressed by the body roll control when cornering and the suspension's response on rough roads – a finish befitting an experienced automaker.
Even on severely uneven surfaces, the suspension system absorbs shocks smoothly, allowing occupants to enjoy a flat ride. With a wheelbase exceeding 3 meters, the rear seats offer a limousine-like experience, making quietness a crucial development theme. Equipped with a noise-canceling system to counteract interior noise and enhanced by clever lighting effects, the cabin undoubtedly provides a relaxing environment for passengers.
The advertised range is over 480km. In North America, the RWD model is priced at $62,990, and the AWD at $64,990. Pricing for Japan has not yet been announced. GM Japan stated that they are considering a launch within 2023.
