A Vision of the Sports Car Mazda Hopes to Realize Someday
Digital motorsports have garnered significant global attention in recent years. Even amidst the current coronavirus pandemic, Mazda has connected with users online, aiming to share the joy of driving with people across borders, regions, languages, and generations. To this end, they have released the new concept model, the "RX-Vision GT3 Concept," on the PlayStation 4 driving simulation game "Gran Turismo Sport."
The "RX-Vision GT3 Concept" is based on the concept model "RX-Vision" that was unveiled at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show. It is envisioned to be modified to comply with FIA GT3 race car regulations. Based on Mazda's design theme "Kodo – Soul of Motion," it embodies Mazda's pursuit of the most beautiful FR sports car design, while also featuring the next-generation rotary engine, "SKYACTIV-R." It represents the sports car Mazda hopes to realize in the future.
The "RX-Vision GT3 Concept" unveiled online was born from a collaboration between Mazda designers and digital modelers from Polyphony Digital. It reflects the FIA GT3 vehicle regulations and performance requirements for race cars, featuring widened fenders, a large engine hood outlet, and a front lower spoiler.
Moving forward, users who drive Mazda vehicles such as the "RX-Vision GT3 Concept" will automatically earn seeding rights to compete in the "FIA Gran Turismo Championships" World Tour events scheduled to be held worldwide during the 2020 season. Additionally, as a special project to commemorate its 100th anniversary, Mazda plans to organize online events that users can enjoy within "Gran Turismo Sport."
