Mercedes-Benz Japan has launched sales of the "Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV," the first SUV electric vehicle (BEV) under the Mercedes-Maybach brand.
Creating a Luxurious Interior with Sustainable Materials and Techniques
The first SUV electric vehicle from Mercedes-Maybach, embodying refined luxury, has arrived.
The "Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV" is based on the Mercedes-Benz "EQS SUV," and has been imbued with a distinctive Maybach luxury that makes it instantly recognizable through Maybach-specific design and features.
The exterior features the Maybach pattern on the front bumper's air intake and front side skirts, while the running boards are adorned with the Maybach emblem to create a sense of exclusivity. Additionally, an emblem is also placed on the D-pillar.
The rear features a design where the internal structure of the LED rear combination lamps forms a curved spiral, creating a three-dimensional effect. Similar to the front, a continuous light band is present at the rear, emitting a striking glow.
The vehicle is fitted with exclusively designed 22-inch wheels. Emotional presence is further emphasized by high-gloss black wheel arches and retractable seamless door handles.
The interior fuses high-quality, sustainable materials to create a luxurious space. The interior trim can also be selected from three interior colors and three types of wood panels.
The MBUX Hyperscreen, which covers the three high-definition displays with a single piece of glass, features Maybach lettering and graphics in a dedicated color scheme that appear on the OLED media display. This display can also be customized with multiple styles.
The MBUX rear entertainment system, equipped with 11.6-inch monitors for each rear seat, is standard, with particular attention paid to reducing noise and vibration. Passengers in the rear can access various content, such as setting navigation destinations and individually adjusting the surround system.
Features include a door-closing assist that ensures doors close securely with minimal effort, and power comfort doors that can be opened and closed via the display.
Furthermore, selecting the optional First Class Package transforms the rear seats into an even more comfortable space. Between the individual left and right rear seats, there is a dedicated champagne glass storage compartment and a detachable large cooling box, along with a center armrest heater.
Environmental considerations are also evident, with tanned leather made using coffee grounds and high-quality recycled nylon yarn from fishing nets and other recycled fibers used for the floor carpets. Reused steel and recycled aluminum are also incorporated.
The interior environment is equipped with a HEPA filter as standard to reduce unpleasant odors. Additionally, the Air Balance package is also standard, creating a subtle fragrance of osmanthus, a fresh and pleasant scent.
The powertrain consists of one electric powertrain (eATS) unit on each of the front and rear axles. The electric motors employ powerful permanent magnet synchronous motors (PSM) that do not require energization of the rotor, producing a maximum output of 484 kW (658 hp) and a maximum torque of 955 Nm.
It is equipped with a 118 kWh lithium-ion battery, offering a WLTC range of 640 km on a single charge.
Bidirectional charging is also possible, allowing power to be supplied from the battery to the outside. It can function as a storage device for electricity generated by a home solar power system or as a backup power source to supply electricity to the home during power outages.
In addition to the standard six body colors, five optional two-tone paint schemes are available. The steering wheel can be selected as left-hand or right-hand drive, and the price is 27.9 million yen.
