The First Electrified Model: The Ghibli, Production Starting in 2020

The main pillars of Maserati's plan are innovations such as autonomous driving and the electrification of all models. New models will continue to be produced in Italy.
Autonomous driving technology is said to play a crucial role in Maserati's innovation. All new Maseratis, including updates to current models, will be equipped with autonomous driving technology, evolving from the current Level 2 with highway assist functions to Level 3 with hands-off assist functions, approaching full autonomous driving.
With Level 3, the vehicle will be capable of safe and precise lane changes, and can move to the shoulder and stop if the driver cannot control the vehicle.
Meanwhile, the electrification process will begin in 2020, with the "Ghibli" produced in Turin becoming the brand's first hybrid model. Furthermore, it was announced that a new electrified sports car model will begin production after 2020. A new factory being built in Cassino, Italy, will open in 2020. A new SUV is scheduled to be produced by 2021.
The "GranTurismo" and "GranCabrio," which have been popular as flagship models for Maserati since their debut in 2007, will also be electrified. The models will undergo a change in design and will be produced at the Turin plant, which is receiving an investment of 800 million euros.
Additionally, construction has begun on a low-environmental-impact paint shop in Modena, Italy. Here, customers can observe their ordered vehicles being painted, and a dedicated customization workshop will be available for customers seeking exclusive models.
