A Flat Floor Adapts to Various Scenarios by Reconfiguring Seating
Jaguar Land Rover, guided by its mission of "Destination Zero"—to make society safer, healthier, and the environment cleaner—and aiming for a future of "zero emissions," "zero accidents," and "zero congestion," has announced its latest EV concept.
Developed at the "National Automotive Innovation Centre" at the University of Warwick to foster close and rapid collaboration with external partners, "Project Vector" is the result.
Designed for urban environments with a total length of just 4 meters, it features all batteries and drive components housed beneath the floor, creating a flat surface. By reconfiguring the seating, the interior and cabin can be adapted for private use, ride-sharing, or even commercial purposes like deliveries.
Stemming from the belief that "connected urban mobility systems are indispensable to the megatrends of urbanization and digitalization," the concept is designed to accommodate various environmental aspects surrounding mobility, including the infrastructure necessary for autonomous vehicles to operate in real cities.
Jaguar Land Rover plans to initiate mobility services using "Project Vector" on public roads in Coventry, UK, in the latter half of 2021, as part of its practical research into future mobility.
