Equipped with a 481-hp 5.0-liter V8 Engine – The IS500 Arrives in Japan
Lexus has announced the introduction of the "IS500 F Sport Performance," equipped with a 5.0-liter V8 engine, to the Japanese market.

The IS, born in 1999 as a compact FR sports sedan, is now set to receive the 5.0-liter V8 engine in its current generation, which underwent a full model change in November 2020. Ahead of this, the IS500 F Sport Performance, a high-performance variant of the IS500, will be launched.
Lexus is expanding its "F Sport Performance" lineup, which enhances powertrains beyond the specifications of the traditional F Sport package, similar to the recently announced "RX500h F Sport Performance." The IS500 is the latest addition to this designation. The standard IS500 is scheduled for release in Japan after the winter of 2022.
The powertrain features a 5.0-liter V8 engine delivering a maximum output of 354 kW (481 hp) and peak torque of 535 Nm. It is designed to pursue the emotional exhilaration of smooth, responsive acceleration and a captivating sound. Furthermore, tuning of the AVS and EPS, along with the addition of "Performance Dampers" at the rear, achieves a ride comfort and handling stability that adapts to various driving scenarios. The braking system has also been enhanced with large-diameter brake rotors, measuring 356 mm at the front and 323 mm at the rear, to improve stopping power.
Lexus claims that to fully realize the potential of the V8 engine, the vehicle underwent rigorous testing and refinement at the "Toyota Technical Center Shimoyama," which replicates diverse road conditions from around the globe.
The exterior design conveys power and presence through its hood styling, which hints at the large-displacement V8 engine, exclusive black calipers, and quad exhaust system. The interior also features sporty elements such as "F Sport Performance" exclusive scuff plates.
For the introduction of the IS500 in Japan, a special edition "F Sport Performance First Edition" will be offered in a limited run of 500 units, sold via lottery. Applications for the lottery will be accepted from Thursday, August 25, 2022, to Thursday, September 15, 2022, with consultations to begin sequentially from late September.
