Corsica, a French island in the Mediterranean Sea. Known as the "Island of Beauty" for its stunning landscapes, it is also famous as a venue for world-class rallies.
The "Tour de Corse," first held on Corsica in 1956, is characterized by its seemingly endless series of corners, earning it the nickname "the rally with 10,000 bends." While the previous generation Alpine A110 achieved four victories in this rally—in 1968, 1970, 1972, and 1973—the 1975 event, where it finished second after a fierce battle, remains more vividly in people's memories than the results themselves.
The previous generation Alpine A110
That year, the previous generation Alpine A110, adorned in a striking yellow livery, used its lightweight body and superior handling to mount an astonishing charge against more powerful rivals. Though it came agonizingly close to victory, it ultimately secured second place.
However, this hard-fought battle, pushing high-powered machines to their limits, is still talked about today. The yellow-based color scheme of that era was later carried over to the Le Mans-winning A442B and the first F1 car, the RS01.
The newly announced "A110 Tour de Corse 75" emerges as a model that inherits the spirit of the Alpine A110 that competed in this "memorable fierce battle."
The body features a dedicated two-tone color scheme of yellow (Jaune Tonnerre) and black (Noir Profond Métallique), along with special decals and brilliant white Grand Prix wheels, evoking the design of the 1975 Tour de Corse.
The powertrain consists of a 1.8-liter turbocharged engine producing a maximum output of 300 ps. The A110's signature lightweight and compact aluminum platform and body contribute to its agility and comfort.
In Japan, a limited run of 20 units will be available, priced at 10,640,000 yen.
