The "849 Testarossa," announced just two weeks ago in Milan, Italy, has already made its Japan premiere.

The venue, adorned in red befitting the "Testarossa" name, was graced by Marco Spossoto, Ferrari's Product Marketing Manager. The new flagship model was unveiled.

The "Testarossa" name dates back to 1955, originating from a mechanic who marked particularly high-performance engines with red paint. Since then, it has symbolized Ferrari's finest engines.

It has been bestowed upon special models throughout history, including racing cars like the Le Mans-winning "250 Testarossa," and the iconic, era-defining popular model "Testarossa" launched in 1984.

The "849 Testarossa" is named for its 8-cylinder engine, with each cylinder displacing 499cc, and it serves as the successor to the "SF90 Stradale."

The engine is a 4-liter V8 twin-turbo mounted in a rear-midship configuration. The engine has been completely redesigned, featuring newly developed larger turbochargers, and boasts a maximum output of 830 hp.

The hybrid system comprises one motor at the rear and two on the front axle, generating a maximum output of 220 hp. The total system output reaches 1,050 hp, with a maximum torque of 842 Nm.
Power is delivered to all four wheels via an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission. The top speed exceeds 330 km/h, and 0-100 km/h acceleration is recorded in just under 2.3 seconds.

There are four driving modes: "eDrive," "Hybrid," "Performance," and "Qualify." The "eDrive" mode allows for up to 25 km of all-electric driving. The 7.45 kWh lithium-ion battery also contributes to a lower center of gravity and optimized weight distribution.

The timeless styling, characterized by sharper, more geometric lines than the "SF90 Stradale," also enhances aerodynamic performance. It generates 415 kg of downforce at 250 km/h, an increase of 25 kg over the "SF90 Stradale." Cooling capacity for the powertrain and brakes has also been improved by 15%.

At the rear, a twin-tail architecture inspired by the "512 S" has been adopted. It also features a movable rear spoiler derived from the "SF90 Stradale" and "296 GTB," contributing to a maximum downforce of 100 kg at 250 km/h.
The interior features a Berlinetta layout with a horizontal dashboard and air vents framed in floating aluminum.

The steering wheel retains the iconic engine start button and mechanical switches, while the digital cluster allows for quick switching to hybrid driving modes, creating a fusion of digital and analog.

Alongside the "849 Testarossa," Ferrari also announced the open-top "849 Testarossa Spider" and the optional "Assetto Fiorano" package.
The "Assetto Fiorano" specification extensively uses carbon fiber and titanium, reducing the overall weight by approximately 30 kg. The lightweight tubular seats, in particular, are 18 kg lighter than the standard seats.
From an aerodynamic perspective, significant changes have been made, including larger flicks at the front and the replacement of the twin tails with twin wings at the rear.
Prices announced in Italy start at €646,500 for the Berlinetta (coupe) and €702,700 for the Spider.
