A Limited Edition Model Leads Lexus's "Over Trail Project"
Lexus has announced that the new SUV "GX550" is scheduled for domestic sales around Fall 2024. In advance of this, a lottery sale for 100 units of the premium off-roader "GX550 OVERTRAIL+" will be held. Applications for the lottery will be accepted at Lexus dealers nationwide until Sunday, May 12th.
The Limited Edition "OVERTRAIL+" Features Equipment Befitting a Premium Off-Roader
The launch timing for Lexus's new SUV, the "GX," has been revealed as around Fall 2024. Furthermore, prior to sales, a lottery for the premium off-roader "GX550 Overtrail+ " will be conducted.
Lexus, which has aimed to realize "the coexistence of people, nature, and mobility," has now announced the "GX550 Overtrail+" as a model to lead the "Over Trail Project." This project is built around three pillars: mobility, gear, and experiences, while embracing a wide range of lifestyles.
The "GX550 Overtrail+" has body dimensions of 4,970mm in length, 2,000mm in width, and 1,925mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,850mm.
The engine is a 3.6-liter V6 twin-turbo, producing a maximum output of 260kW (353ps) and a maximum torque of 650Nm. It is a genuine off-roader with four-wheel drive, capable of a maximum climbing gradient of 45 degrees, a maximum stable inclination angle of 44 degrees, and a maximum wading depth of 700mm.
Features include a center protection element, a lift-up rear door glass hatch, and 18-inch tires with matte gray wheels—items befitting an outdoor model.
Additionally, it is equipped with a hands-free power tailgate that allows automatic opening and closing of the back door with a simple foot motion when carrying the key, even with hands full of luggage, as well as a rear bumper molding.
Regarding the sales method, lottery applications will be accepted at Lexus dealers nationwide until Sunday, May 12th. Successful applicants will be contacted by the dealership where they applied from Wednesday, May 15th onwards to begin negotiations.
The "GX550 Overtrail+" will be limited to 100 units, with a price of 12.35 million yen.
