The Biggest Change to Daily Operations in the Company's 100-Year History

"Come Back Stronger" involves approximately 250 new hygiene and social distancing protocols, representing the biggest change to daily operations in the company's 100-year history.
These measures are structured around seven key areas: before leaving home, during transit, upon entry, preparing for work, during work, during breaks, and upon departure. The announcement stated that they are designed to protect over 4,000 employees, including staff in the factory where all Bentleys are handcrafted.
Key process changes will affect all areas, with the manufacturing facility itself being redesigned to maintain a minimum of two meters between workers. One-way traffic routes will be established for the movement of people and goods. Face masks will be mandatory in factory and office areas, and remote work will continue for those who can.
Furthermore, personal protective equipment such as face masks, gloves, and goggles will be provided to employees as needed, and staff temperatures will be checked. These supplies have also been concurrently donated to local care centers.
To minimize infection risk, cleaning protocols have been enhanced, and guidance has been created for meeting processes, site access, and travel. The density of people within the company and factory will also be managed. All entrances and exits have been reviewed and reconfigured to disperse foot traffic. Catering facilities will limit capacity and assign distanced seating.
For office-based employees, density will be controlled through newly introduced shift patterns. Plastic separation screens will be installed in office areas. These return-to-work guidelines have been sent to all employees' homes and are also available via the "Bentley Employee News App."
Chairman and CEO Adrian Hallmark commented, "Throughout this unprecedented crisis, the health and safety of our colleagues has been and remains our top priority. These extensive new working measures will enable our employees and Bentley to emerge stronger and more focused than ever before."
He added, "Now is the time for Bentley to begin a phased and controlled return to production, ensuring that our workplace is the safest place to be. Full production is scheduled to resume on May 18, and with everyone playing their part, Bentley can continue its extraordinary journey towards a future of luxury and sustainable mobility."
During the production halt, Bentley utilized its specialized technical capabilities to produce over 30,000 face shields using 3D printers. Additionally, the "Meals on 22inch Wheels" service was expanded, with employees volunteering to deliver essential supplies to the local community.
