Indicating the Design Direction for the 2025 BEV and Subsequent Models

As the successor to the Bacalar project, the Batur is being produced in a limited edition of 18 units by Mulliner, the world's oldest coachbuilder with over 250 years of history and Bentley's bespoke & coachbuilding division.
Just as the Bacalar was named after Mexico's Lake Bacalar, the Batur derives its name from a beautiful crater lake on the Kimaamani Plateau in Bali, Indonesia.
The Batur introduces Bentley's new design language. This design indicates the direction for the BEV scheduled for launch in 2025 and subsequent models that Bentley is developing.
Bentley's iconic front grille features a more upright, modern design than ever before, with large headlights flanking the grille, evoking a connection to the Bacalar. The car sits on 22-inch bespoke wheels.
The interior inherits key elements of the Bacalar's interior design, while adding sustainable and luxurious materials such as low-carbon leather from Scotland, 'Dynamica' suede-like material, and carpets made from recycled yarn. It is a space designed for personalization and long-distance grand touring.
The powertrain is a 6.0-liter W12 twin-turbo engine, which has been a Bentley icon for 20 years. With upgraded turbochargers and a newly designed intercooler, it produces over 740 ps and 1000 Nm of torque, paired with an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission, making it Bentley's most powerful model to date.
Incidentally, as Bentley is making a significant shift towards full electrification in line with its 'Beyond 100' strategy, the W12 engine is nearing its end. This model is also intended to mark its farewell.
Contributing to the dynamic driving experience are adaptive three-chamber air springs, selectable from four modes: 'Sport,' 'Bentley,' 'Comfort,' and 'Custom.'
Additionally, selecting a mode via the Drive Dynamics Control alters the operation of the 48V electric active anti-roll control system, which can apply up to 1300 Nm of anti-roll torque in 0.3 seconds and decouple the wheels at each end of the vehicle, as well as adjust front and rear roll stiffness. In Sport mode, turn-in becomes sharper, and the balance during acceleration is improved.
All 18 units of the Batur are already spoken for, with each owner working with Mulliner's design team to determine their individual specifications. Owners can decide on almost every aspect of the car except the body shape, allowing their personality to be fully reflected. Once specifications are finalized, the cars are handcrafted at the Mulliner workshop at Bentley's Crewe headquarters. The first deliveries are scheduled for mid-2023.
