Volvo Partners with SB Power for 100% Renewable "Natural Electricity"
Volvo Car Japan has partnered with SB Power, the provider of "Natural Electricity." At authorized dealerships nationwide, excluding the Hokuriku Electric Power service area, they have begun offering "Natural Electricity," which is 100% renewable energy. This marks the first time SB Power has partnered with an automotive brand.

Contributing to Reduced Environmental Impact from Electric Vehicles
Volvo is advancing its electrification efforts with a goal to make all cars sold by 2030 externally chargeable electric vehicles (BEVs) and achieve climate neutrality by 2040. The company plans for BEVs to constitute 50% of global sales by 2025, and 35% of sales in the Japanese market.
Volvo believes that enabling home charging with electricity from renewable sources for BEVs and PHEVs significantly contributes to reducing the environmental impact of electric vehicles. Through this partnership, customers purchasing Volvo PHEVs, as well as owners of Volvo's first BEV, the "C40," which begins delivery in autumn 2021, will be able to apply for 100% renewable energy electricity at dealerships.
Furthermore, some government and local authority subsidies for electric vehicles require a switch to renewable energy for household electricity. Volvo states that by making it easy to apply at authorized Volvo dealerships, this initiative is expected to improve user convenience.
SB Power's "Natural Electricity," offered by the SoftBank Group, not only delivers 100% renewable energy to homes but also supports forest conservation. For each contract, SB Power contributes a monthly support fee of 50 yen to organizations that conduct J-Credit System certification activities, operated by Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Ministry of the Environment, and Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. Concurrently, the company aims to contribute to decarbonization through the provision of "Natural Electricity" amidst an increasingly electrified society.
To commemorate this partnership, a campaign offering two months of free electricity charges will be available until the end of March 2022 for those who apply for "Natural Electricity" through a Volvo dealership.
