Five-Layer Soft Top Minimizes Wind and Road Noise, Available with Bespoke Options

The "Ferrari Roma Spider," the open-top version of the "Ferrari Roma," which has been eagerly awaited in Japan, made its Japan premiere. This marks the first front-engine model with a soft top in 54 years, since the "365 GTS4" in 1969.
The styling is said to be a modern interpretation of the chic Italian lifestyle of the 1950s and 60s. Ferrari Styling Centre, led by Flavio Manzoni, has set the concept as "La Nuova Dolce Vita" (The New Sweet Life) to allow for an elegant and open-air driving experience.
While retaining the elegant, flowing silhouette of the coupe, the rear screen has been made part of the soft top to recreate the gently sloping fastback roofline, ingeniously designed to fold under the tonneau cover when the roof is opened.
Furthermore, a patented wind deflector integrated with the rear seat backrests has been developed to minimize cabin turbulence and wind noise when the roof is open.
New materials have been adopted for the soft top. The company has put considerable effort into selecting color combinations and developing the weave to achieve an elegant yet sporty look. Additionally, customers can choose from four two-tone weave options for a bespoke finish.
This soft top features a five-layer construction, suppressing wind and road noise to provide comfort comparable to a hardtop. It opens and closes in 13.5 seconds and can be operated while driving at speeds up to 60 km/h. Its compact design ensures a trunk capacity of 255 liters.
Like the "Ferrari Roma," the body utilizes an all-aluminum chassis. By employing a soft top, the weight increase for the open-top model was kept to just 84 kg.
The powertrain is the same as the coupe, featuring a 3,855cc V8 twin-turbo engine mounted at the front. It produces a maximum output of 456 kW (620 cv) and a peak torque of 760 Nm, delivered to the rear wheels via an 8-speed DCT. The top speed is 320 km/h, with 0-100 km/h acceleration in 3.4 seconds.
