1.5-Liter Turbo Engine Paired with Mild Hybrid ISG System

A new entry-grade model has been introduced to the C-Class, which recently underwent a full model change in 2021.
The new C-Class features numerous new technologies inherited from the flagship S-Class, including an enhanced driver assistance system, a large vertical center display for intuitive operation, and seat position settings via biometric authentication. These features are also incorporated into the newly introduced C180.
The powertrain for the new C180, the entry-grade model of the C-Class, features the "M254" 1.5-liter inline four-cylinder turbo engine, producing a maximum output of 125 kW (170 hp) and a maximum torque of 250 Nm. It is paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission.
Additionally, the Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) mild hybrid system, positioned between the engine and transmission, provides a temporary boost of up to 15 kW (20 hp) and 208 Nm. Beyond boosting, it contributes to fuel efficiency through regenerative braking and coasting, as well as reducing vibration during gear shifts and engine restarts.
The exterior of the C-Class is based on the design philosophy of "Sensual Purity," significantly reducing lines and edges to create a sculpted form with curves that generate unique shadow play.
The headlights at the front, also reminiscent of the S-Class, are thinner vertically and more sharply designed than the previous generation. The radiator grille is adorned with a sporty three-pointed star in the center.
Similar to the S-Class, the rear features distinctive two-piece combination taillights with a triangular, horizontally elongated design, creating a wider and sharper appearance.
The interior is equipped with a 12.3-inch wide instrument cluster display and an 11.9-inch vertical center display. It also features the conversational infotainment system "MBUX."
In terms of safety equipment, the "Intelligent Drive" advanced driver-assistance system, which includes features like Active Steering Assist and Emergency Stop Assist for traffic jams, is standard.
The price for the C180 Avantgarde is 5.99 million yen for the sedan and 6.25 million yen for the station wagon.
