A unique initiative nationwide, merging hot springs, university, and EVs; tourism, education, and the environment.

Nissan Motor Corporation, committed to a zero-emission society through the widespread adoption of EVs, is launching a unique demonstration project that fuses hot springs, university, and EVs, alongside tourism, education, and the environment.
The Niigata Nishikan Regional Symbiotic Sphere Council was established by organizations including the Iwafuro Onsen Tourism Association, Niigata International Information University, and the NPO Iwamuroya, aiming to promote environmentally conscious tourism, revitalize the region through university education, and realize a regional symbiotic sphere.
In July 2020, Nissan Motor Corporation and the Council will open a new station for the EV car-sharing service "NISSAN e-share mobi" at the Iwafuro tourist facility "Iwamuroya" in Niigata City. By deploying Nissan LEAFs there and utilizing them as a means of transportation for tourists visiting the Iwafuro Onsen area on weekends, holidays, and long breaks, the initiative aims to revitalize regional tourism.
Meanwhile, on weekdays, the vehicles will be based at Niigata International Information University, serving for transportation among faculty, staff, and students, as well as for regional industry and tourism research and development.
Furthermore, Nissan Motor Corporation will provide data, such as driving records, from the new "NISSAN e-share mobi" station in Iwafuro Onsen to the Council. This will contribute to regional revitalization, particularly in tourism, and will also be used to evaluate the effectiveness of introducing EV car-sharing.
